AFP Serum Tumor Marker

A blood test used primarily to monitor cancer treatment and detect recurrence, not as a general screening tool . It is especially useful for hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) and non-seminomatous germ cell tumors of the testicles or ovaries. Levels are also elevated during normal pregnancy.
