Thyroglobulin by LCMS

A blood test that measures thyroglobulin, a protein produced only by thyroid cells. This test is primarily used to monitor patients who have been treated for thyroid cancer to check for remaining or returning cancer cells. The LC-MS/MS method (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) is a special technique that provides accurate results even when patients have developed antibodies that interfere with standard thyroid cancer tests. It is typically performed when standard immunoassay testing is unreliable due to these autoantibodies.
